Dear UConn hockey fan:

The #IceBus continues its journey toward hockey excellence. Last season’s explosive run in the Hockey East playoffs captivated UConn Nation. Our participation in the Hockey East Championship marked another significant milestone in the growth of our program under Head Coach Mike Cavanaugh.

And now, another building block will soon be put in place with the opening of our brand new, state-of-the-art hockey arena, an outstanding jewel in our athletics neighborhood on the Storrs campus. The new building, which will be home to our men’s and women’s programs, will hold about 2,600 with terrific viewing angles for all spectators and will include premium spaces such as an ice level lounge and a premium mid-ice club level seating area.

As we look forward to the opening of this sparkling facility, we want to thank the many loyal patrons who have supported UConn hockey through the purchase of season tickets at XL Center. For the upcoming 2022-23 men’s hockey season, our primary home will again be XL Center and, based on the current construction schedule for our on-campus facility, we will play the majority of our home games in Hartford. It is projected that our new arena will open shortly after the new year. No matter the exact timing, your season ticket purchase will include games both at XL Center and the new arena in Storrs. Since we anticipate a limited number of games in Storrs in 2022-23, seats will be assigned by Husky Athletic Fund priority points. This will be a great opportunity for fans to experience and enjoy the new building. Qualifying season ticket holders will then have the opportunity to choose their desired seats (for 2023-24 and beyond) during a seat selection process next spring, and there will be various seat pricing options offered.

We hope that you’ll be with us as we take the next step in the evolution of UConn hockey and continue to demonstrate your steadfast commitment to the student-athletes who wear the Husky uniform.

If you have any questions after you review the information contained here, please reach out to our staff. We will be happy to assist you.

Thanks again for your ongoing dedication to UConn hockey. The future is bright, and we look forward to sharing it with you.

Sincerely,

David Benedict

2022-23 Season Tickets

For the 2022-23 season, you will renew or buy your season tickets based on the XL Center seating map below. We expect the majority of our home men’s hockey games to be played at XL Center for the 2022-23 season. Based on current construction, we project your 16-game season ticket package will include 12 games at XL Center and 4 games at the new on-campus arena. One additional game, currently targeted to be vs. Alaska Anchorage on February 22, will be a student event at the new on-campus arena. This will not be included in your season ticket package or price. Home game locations are subject to change, based on the construction timeline. To learn more about the home game schedule, please visit this page

We will place patrons in seats in the new on-campus arena for all games played in Storrs this season. Seats will be assigned based on Husky Athletic Fund priority points as of June 17, 2022. The assigned seats will be for the 2022-23 season only. Due to anticipated high demand, seat placement is subject to availability based on priority points. If you are not seated in the new on-campus arena, you will receive a refund at the conclusion of the season for the number of games played in the new on-campus arena.

When renewing or purchasing new season tickets, you have the option to opt out of the games played at the new on-campus arena in Storrs. By checking the box and opting out within your ticket application, we will not place you in a seat for the games played on campus this season. You will receive your seats for the XL Center games only. All season ticket holders will be charged for 16 home games. Those that opt out of games on campus will be refunded for the number of games played in the new on-campus arena once the season concludes.

The new on-campus arena seat selection process will take place in the spring of 2023.

Note: All prices include a $2 per game F.I.T. fee. Season tickets include all 16 regular season home games.

2022-23 Women's Hockey

Under the leadership of Head Coach Chris MacKenzie, the women’s ice hockey team excelled in Hockey East play last season, culminating with an appearance in the Hockey East Championship. All women’s ice hockey games will be free of charge for the 2022-23 season. The Huskies will begin their season playing in the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum. Once construction is completed, they will move into the new on-campus arena. More information on 2023-24 tickets to come at a later date.

The New Home of the Huskies

UConn Hockey Arena Overview

The new 2,600-seat arena will be located adjacent to the current Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum in the athletics district on Jim Calhoun Way.  In the bowl, the seating will consist of 80% with seat backs and 20% on benches. The new facility will also have a large center-hung display scoreboard with perimeter ribbon boards and will be designed to create an outstanding experience for fans with state-of-the-art sound and lighting features.

Drink Rail Seats

At the top of select sections, premium drink rail seating will be available as a ticketed seating location. The drink rails include a bar-chair style seat at the top of the section with a platform table in front of it. Its spacious style seat, easy access to the concourse, and great viewing angle create a unique game experience for fans.

On-the-Glass Seats

Other premium seat options are located on the boards of each section for an optimal ice-level sightline. To be inches away from the action, these on-the-glass seats are the place to be. These seats are home to some of the most exciting experiences at a hockey game.

Club Level Seats

The arena will also feature a premier club area with 145 cushioned, comfortable seats. The club area is mid-ice and also includes seats with a drink rail option. This premium level offers the best viewing angle to follow the on-ice action. With center ice positioning, club patrons will be able to follow the puck net to net with ease. The club also offers luxury seating areas with access to a club bar.

Ice Level Lounge

The Ice Level Lounge puts you at ice level with the action and lets you enjoy the game in an intimate, unique hockey setting. Take in the game right behind the net with exclusive access to a bar area. Each cafe-style table offers two seats for fans to enjoy the game in this one-of-a-kind atmosphere.

Other Arena Info

The team facilities will feature full training and support for our women’s and men’s student-athletes, including team lounges, locker rooms with video displays, training space with a hydrotherapy area,  and a strength and conditioning room. It will also include areas such as coaches’ offices, a media working room, dining area, academic counseling/study room and support services areas.
